Approximately 8,000,000 tonnes enter the waterways annually. An average household's single member produces between 200 and 300 litres of wastewater each day (water that has been used for things like toilet flushing and other use). 14,000,000,000 litres of effluent remain after removal of 450,000,000 litres of wastewater every day.
We can try reducing this by using less water for non-essential use like unnecessarily always flushing the toilet or leaving the tap on for too long. This will help us reduce the amount of wastewater released into our waterways.
We can aim to produce 155 litres of wastewater to reduce the wastewater to be produced annually and making sure raw wastewater does not end up in the waterways. By doing this less effluent remain after removal.Â
